This week...
November 5 The tragedy at Fort Hood is very much on the minds of many Americans tonight, mine as much as any. That the soldiers fell on American soil in no way diminishes that they were wearing uniforms and were prepared at any time to defend our country and our freedom. May those who died rest in peace, and their families somehow find comfort in each other and in our gratitude for their service.
November 4 Yesterday was a pretty good day, but tomorrow has the potential to be even better. Let's all do our part to ensure health care reform doesn't mean socialized health care. Head on over to the Patriotic Resistance and take a look at their handy dandy checklist of actions for November 5. Everything starts at noon.
November 1 This week's commentary addresses what pretty much everybody is talking about right now, and that's health care reform. In it's current state, I refer to it as "faith healing" since we're apparently supposed to take it on faith that the government could possibly manage such a plan without destroying either health care or the economy (my own guess that it can't, by the way, isn't much of a guess since we've got plenty of history to back it up).
October 26 My latest commentary concerns tax increases and why most of us don't really mean it when we say we're against them.
New movie reviews are up! For those of you wanting to do something scary for Halloween, I can't think of too many things scarier (outside of government, that is) than the truly brilliant Paranormal Activity. The younger or more sensitive set might consider Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant instead, although I don't recommend it as highly
Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty!
There's a lot going on in Washington and elsewhere these days, and much of it isn't good. I've got an Action Alerts page full of information and suggested actions for attempts to preserve freedom. Among those things you might consider is an upcoming Continental Congress (no kidding). Meanwhile, don't lose sight of such crucial to our country issues as healthcare reform and "cap and trade."
What's Old is New Again
The redesign of Lady Liberty's Constitution Clearing House continues as more and more pages of content are added. Do let me know what you think! Constructive criticism is welcome as are constructive suggestions.
Why act? Why now?
Perhaps history has seen darker days, but in several generations, we have not. We face an activist judiciary inclined to re-interpret rather than interpret the Constitution, and so re-write law. We see looming nationalization of industry and the financial sector (already well underway) and the socialism of healthcare (despite denials, we all know better, don't we?). We see unprecedented government growth which will almost certainly result in unprecedented tax burdens.
If I'm lucky, by what I do here I might help to preserve liberty. And if I'm not, I will at least go down fighting. I humbly ask that you join me in those endeavors. The worst thing that we could possibly do is nothing...
